January 2025 Swift Global Payment Currency Ranking Statistics: The Renminbi accounted for 3.79% and ranked fourth.

    On February 20, 2025, the Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication (SWIFT) released its monthly report and statistical data. In January 2025, the renminbi maintained its position as the world's fourth most active currency in global payments by value, accounting for 3.79% of total payments, compared to 3.75% in December 2024. Compared to December 2024, the total value of RMB payments increased by 2.1%, while the aggregate value of payments across all currencies rose by 1.1%.

    SWIFT data further indicates that in January 2025, the US dollar, euro, and British pound ranked as the top three currencies by payment value, accounting for 50.17%, 21.98%, and 6.91% respectively. Notably, since surpassing the Japanese yen in November 2024 to reclaim its position as the world's fourth most active currency, the renminbi has maintained this ranking for three consecutive months.
