US Asks Allies to Pick Sides in US-China AI Ecosystem; China Says It Firmly Opposes Bloc Confrontation

A reporter from The Paper asked: According to reports, the US government plans to send a letter to "partner countries of the AI Opportunity Partnership," requesting that countries choosing US AI services forgo using Chinese AI systems. What is China's comment?

Lin Jian said AI is the shared wisdom and precious asset of all humanity, and the international community broadly expects extensive AI cooperation. Every country has the right to choose partners based on its own national conditions and development needs.

Lin stressed that China firmly opposes picking sides or bloc confrontation on AI. He expressed hope that all parties would abandon zero-sum thinking, uphold solidarity, respect every country's digital sovereignty, and jointly build a fair and reasonable global AI governance system, so that AI can become an important engine for shared prosperity and shared security.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs will continue to safeguard China's legitimate rights and interests in emerging technology fields and promote international cooperation on AI rules and standards through bilateral and multilateral channels.
